Held in early July the Basque Festival is intriguing for those who love culture and music.  If you are looking for things to do in Washington DC, make this one on the top of your list.  There are many things to see and listen.  More so to learn a new culture which is unique as its geographical location, the Basque Country is a fascinating one.  The people, language and way of life go back thousands of years ago.  The livelihood of fishing is very much alive back then and today.  Watch this video to see what I am talking about.

Black Heritage Festival 2016 in Tampa, Florida

Black Heritage Festival 2016 starts today (January 16, 2016) here in Tampa, Florida with the awesome performance of the young students from Walton Academy. Give it up to the Eagles. They sang,’Everybody Needs A Hero’, a well-done performance.

The Black Heritage Festivals is held in Downtown Tampa leading up to MLK Day with live performances of local and national recording artists. There are food and craft vendors. This event commemorates the contributions of African-Americans made in our society.

Indian Festival in Tampa, Florida is held in the Florida State Fairgrounds on November 7, 2015.

Great fun watching performers doing the Bhangra Dance. Enthusiasm from the crowds and participants is obvious as the high-beat moves entertain everyone present.

The many in attendance are mostly the Indian local community made up the majority. Hundreds of ethnic foods and drinks are available for the the thousands who showed up.

The evidence of cultural pride by the local Indian population is ever-strong as many turned-out to sell products, services and food in support of the event.

Greek Festival at St John Greek Orthodox Church, Tampa, Florida

The Greek Festival at St John Greek Orthodox Church is held at 2418 Swann Avenue, Tampa, Florida. The Greek women performers from Pinigyri Dance Group carried out the famous and traditional dance steps to the spectators delight.

The Tampa Greek community has been growing for many years now. Young people are showing their pride through their participation in program dances and helping out in preparing for the festival held during the month of November.

There are plenty of dancing entertainment during the three-day event. Performers dressed in their traditional apparel are amazing to watch.

Held in the Grand Hall of St John Greek Orthodox Church, the church itself has been the center of the community’s faith. Many provide support to the Greek enclave living in the area.

Pow Wow Festival North Tampa Native American Indians 3

Pow Wow Festival is a Native American Indians gathering of the local descendants donning colorful tribal costumes of their times. Dances are performed before the adoring crowd.

This annual 3-day multi-national family-friendly event will feature leaders and groups from different Native American tribes from Florida and U.S., with the primary goal of promoting and celebrating the Native American culture and traditions.
Activities would include Inter-tribal Dancing, Gourd Dancing, Tipi Encampment, Crafts Exhibition, Dance Competitions, Dry Camping on-site, and Live Auction. And of course, there will also be Native American foods and great shopping finds from the various vendors of unique items such as feathers, animal skins, leather, sinew, beads, turquoise, dried white sage and other traditional elements.
AND MORE… this event will be hosting the FIRST in Florida– Hat & Boot Dance Special.
